The Band stopped in McDowell County on its way to Atlanta for the Mountaineers’ game against Alabama and performed its pre-game show in front of a giant crowd prior to the “Battle of the Views” season opener between River View and Mount View high schools.

“The band is the visible sign of the University – it’s the pride, it’s the youth, it’s the energy. It is WVU to us,” said Donald Reed, McDowell County WVU Extension agent. “I want this to ignite the love and passion of music and performance in these kids and get them to WVU and back to McDowell.”

Earlier this summer, Reed asked West Virginia University President Gordon Gee to bring the band back to McDowell County.
