Smoothie King, which originated the smoothie bar concept in 1973, will open its first Morgantown location in early spring on the ground floor of University Park, West Virginia University’s new contemporary mixed-use residence hall and apartment complex on the Evansdale campus.

The franchise will be owned and operated by sisters and Morgantown natives Jennifer Clausen and Ronda Crenner.

“We hope to entice the students, area residents and visitors to adopt healthier lifestyles by adding smoothies and healthy snacks to their diets and incorporating more fitness into their daily routines,” they said.

Smoothie King will be priced to accommodate students and will accept Mountie Bounty.

University Park is a public-private partnership and includes approximately 1,310 beds, food services and retail development benefiting both WVU students and the surrounding neighborhood.

The development is located within walking distance of WVU’s Health Sciences Campus, Ruby Memorial Hospital, Milan Puskar Stadium, WVU’s College of Law, and WVU’s main transportation hub, Mountaineer Station.
