Tracey Beckley has been promoted to executive director of WVU’s Teaching and Learning Commons (TLC), reporting to the associate provost of undergraduate education, Sue Day-Perroots, effective October 5, 2015.

By integrating the Teaching and Learning Commons into the mission of Undergraduate Education, WVU will make an important commitment to faculty and students, according to Day-Perroots.

As executive director, Beckley will provide strategic leadership and vision to the TLC, which is comprised of the iDesign, iTeach and Academic Excellence & Assessment units. She also will lend guidance and provide assistance to the associate provost to expand teaching and learning support for an infrastructure that serves the entire WVU campus.

“Tracey has lead this effort and has made significant contributions since arriving at WVU,” says Day-Perroots. “Her keen intellect, collaborative leadership style and highly effective management are collective traits that formulate a strong advocacy and support base for teaching and learning at WVU.”
Prior to her executive director appointment, Beckley was the director for TLC’s iDesign unit, where she was instrumental in establishing a foundation for instructional technology at WVU. She focused on collaborating with faculty, designers and technologists to integrate the most appropriate and effective technology into teaching and learning environments, including traditional, online and blended classrooms.

“We are fortunate to collaborate with such a talented team of professionals across disciplines that are dedicated to teaching and learning initiatives at WVU,” says Beckley. I am honored to serve in this leadership role, and I hope to expand on the strong partnerships we are building to provide academic support and resources to empower all who teach.”

Beckley graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. degree in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and from Carnegie Mellon University with a master’s in public management and information systems. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in instructional design and technology from WVU.

In conjunction with Beckley’s appointment, Erin Kelley was promoted to director of iDesign, where she will continue to foster and support teaching and learning efforts at WVU.
