West Virginia University remains in the top 100 of all public universities in rankings published this week by U.S. News and World Report.

WVU is tied for 99th among public universities and tied for 183rd among all national universities, which includes private schools and which offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs. These colleges also are committed to producing groundbreaking research.

Both rankings, released Tuesday (Sept. 13), hold steady from last year when WVU was 98th among public universities and 175th overall among national universities. The rankings, although numerically lower, are not statistically significant changes, according to officials.

In other rankings released Tuesday, the undergraduate business program rose from 156th to 150th. Undergraduate engineering was 108th.

In addition, WVU Tech’s engineering program was ranked 25th among public schools that do not offer a doctorate in the discipline. Click here to read more about WVU Tech’s ranking.
