Faculty members in the West Virginia University Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design were recently recognized for outstanding teaching, research and service for the 2014-15 academic year.

Mike Strager, associate professor of agricultural and resource economics, was recognized as outstanding teacher. He was also recently honored with the WVU Foundation Award for Outstanding Teacher. Other honorees were Robert Dailey, professor of animal and nutritional sciences Ron Dulaney, associate professor of interior design George Merovich, teaching assistant professor of wildlife and fisheries resources and the 2013-14 recipient of the award; and Sven Verlinden, associate professor of horticulture.

Janet Tou, associate professor of human nutrition and foods, was recognized as the college’s outstanding researcher. Strager; Peter Butler, associate professor of landscape architecture Dan Panaccione, professor of plant pathology; and Amy Welsh, assistant professor of wildlife and fisheries resources were also honored. Last year’s recipient was Jingxin Wang, professor of wood science and technology.

Chris Haddox, assistant professor of design studies was recognized for outstanding service. Jim Anderson, professor of wildlife and fisheries resources; Margaret Minch, clinical associate professor of veterinary medicine; Yong-Lak Park, associate professor of entomology; and Mark Sperow, associate professor of agricultural and resource economics were also honored. Debby Boone, associate professor of agricultural and extension education, was the 2013-14 recipient.

Faculty are recognized in teaching, research and service by their academic divisions as part of the promotion and tenure review process. College-wide honorees are then selected by a college-level committee.
