The WVU National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. will perform their annual step show Saturday, April 25. The show—titled, “Who’s Got the Juice”—will be held in the Stansbury Hall gymnasium. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Advanced tickets are on sale at the Mountainlair. The cost is $10 for the general public and $5 for the Greek community. Tickets will be sold at the door.

“This is an event and experience you are not going to want to miss,” said Chris Allen, president of the WVU National Pan-Hellenic Council. “This has become an annual event where the organizations within our council come together for some friendly competition while raising proceeds so we may continue to serve the community and display the art of stepping.”

Step shows are a creative and unique style of inventive entertainment infused with skits of a particular theme that combine art, singing and dancing. It stems from the ways in which African tribes communicated with each another; it is now used as a tool of expression and a way to increase diversity education through a series of unique performances.

Stepping was introduced into the practices and traditions of the organizations that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council Inc. in the mid-to-late 1920s. Since then, stepping has developed into a massive production that is held during the spring semester on college campuses throughout the nation.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council is the council that governs the nine historically African American sororities and fraternities. The nine organizations in our council are: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. • Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. • Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. •Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. •Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. •Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. •Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. • Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
