Representatives from Big 12 Conference schools will meet on the West Virginia University campus next week for the 2013 Career Services Directors meeting.

The meeting, which takes place from May 13-15, will provide representatives with professional development opportunities and knowledge and best practices to serve their students and alumni.

“My staff and I are very excited to sponsor this event,” said David Durham, director of the WVU Career Services Center. “This is the first official non-athletic conference-wide event to be hosted on the WVU campus.

“The career services directors are very influential members of their respective campuses with over 100 years of cumulative service. Hosting this year’s meeting will help to acknowledge the importance that WVU places on the career readiness of our graduates.”

Topics will include best practices and collaborative programs offered to employers, students and alumni. Critical areas such as career specific support software, student and employee relations and job placement data collection strategies will be discussed as well as an in-depth review of current conditions and trends to better understand and predict the employment outlook for 2013-14.

WVU officially joined the Big 12 in July 2012.
