West Virginia University is accepting nominations and applications for the position of campus provost for Potomac State College of West Virginia University.

The campus provost, who serves as the chief executive officer of the College, reports to the president of West Virginia University through the provost and vice president for academic affairs and is a member of the provost’s Senior Administrators’ Group.

Potomac State College of West Virginia University is a residential two-year college. Since 1926, the College has held continuous accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The most recent accreditation visit was in Spring 2004. The institution was reaccredited without any deficiencies.

Potomac State College of WVU became a fully integrated division of West Virginia University, on July 1, 2005. The College functions much like any other college/school of West Virginia University, while still maintaining its distinctive niche in the higher educational system of West Virginia. The budget and governance processes mirror those of the college/schools on the Morgantown campus.

However, Potomac State College of WVU continues to have its own academic culture and appeals to a somewhat different market segment of students. Therefore, while there are many ways in which Potomac State College of WVU is considered a college/school of the university, Potomac State College retains its own identity in many significant ways.

The campus provost will assure the campus has a viable vision and leadership position in the community. The provost is in charge of the College’s administrative, educational and student life activities and assures that they operate effectively and efficiently.

Applicants will be expected to have demonstrated successful leadership and team building skills, managerial and communication skills, and experience in developing program budgets. Experience in, or exposure to academic administration and private fund raising is desirable. Electronic applications or nominations are requested and should be sent to Deborah Brown at dlbrown@mail.wvu.edu, with subject: PSC Campus Provost.
