West Virginia University Student Organizations Services is accepting applications for the 2011 WVU Homecoming Court and Parade.
Applications are now available online at http://sos.wvu.edu or in the Student Organizations Services office in the Mountainlair.
Members of the court will be selected by a five-person panel of WVU faculty and staff judges based on leadership, activities and campus involvement. Applicants must also submit an essay explaining why they are qualified to represent WVU as Homecoming King or Queen.
“WVU is looking for senior students who show academic excellence, strong leadership within student organizations, community service and pride in West Virginia University and the Mountaineers,” said Student Government Association Vice President Megan Callaghan.
Voting for the Homecoming Court will take place on Sept. 28-29. Winners will be announced during halftime of the Oct. 1 WVU football game against Bowling Green.
Interested applicants must be enrolled at the WVU main campus as full-time students, have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade-point average and completed a minimum of 89 credit hours. Former WVU Homecoming candidates are ineligible.
Applications are due at noon on Sept. 1.
Student Organizations Services is also accepting applications for participants in the 2011 Homecoming Parade.
The parade will take place on Friday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will begin lining up at 5:45 p.m. There is no fee for non-profit and student organizations. All others will be required to pay $50.
Applications are due Sept. 23. There will be a $10 fee for applications turned in after that date.
