West Virginia University students on the Evansdale Campus will no longer have to make the trek downtown to speak with a career counselor.

WVU’s Career Services Center’s Satellite Office – located in room 149 of the Engineering Sciences Building – is now staffed with a career counselor.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to learn more about the changes to the satellite office at an open house held Tuesday, Jan. 25. The open house will kick off the grand re-opening of the office. It will be held from 2-5 p.m.

“With the introduction of MountaineerTRAK, our University-wide online employment assistance program, and the collaboration between Career Services and the academic units, the role of our satellite office in assisting students has changed significantly,” said David Durham, director of the Career Services Center. “I encourage everyone to visit the open house and learn more about our services.”

MountaineerTRAK allows students to search for part-time employment, internships, co-ops and permanent employment opportunities around the state and country. The program also assists students in creating a cover letter and resume or uploading the documents to their accounts, making it easily accessible to employers.

WVU students can access MountaineerTRAK online at http://careerservices.wvu.edu/home/mountaineertrak_logins . Once students have completed their profile they can check for new job postings by visiting any of the kiosks located around campus and swiping their student ID.

WVU’s Career Services Center is best known for assisting students with finding jobs upon graduation, but also provides a variety of services ranging from helping new students select a major to assisting alumni that find themselves back in the job market. Traditional services are also available including instruction on resume writing and developing interview skills and techniques.

Students who receive resume assistance at either of the Career Services offices, beginning Feb. 1, will receive a coupon for six free resumes and matching envelopes from Mountainlair Printing Services.
