West Virginia University Strategic Planning Council Chair Nigel Clark and Co-Chairs Provost Michele Wheatly and Chancellor for Health Sciences Christopher Colenda invite faculty, staff, students and others to share their suggestions and feedback on “The Strategic Plan for the Future” at campus forums in November and early December.

WVU President James P. Clements outlined the draft plan during his Oct. 11 State of the University address, highlighting five goals intended to move the state’s flagship institution into the next decade.

“Now that the draft plan has been out there circulating for a couple of weeks, it’s time for faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, policymakers, residents of our state —everyone whose lives are touched by WVU in some way—to have a voice in shaping and re-defining our University’s future role and success,” Dr. Clark said. “All of us can contribute to the vision and plans for WVU’s role in education, research and outreach. This is your time to talk and our time to listen about ways to advance WVU’s goals.”

“Dialogue for Our Future: The WVU Strategic Plan” will be held at three campus locations in Morgantown, and at Potomac State College of WVU in Keyser and the WVU Institute of Technology in Montgomery.

Dates, times and locations for the open dialogues are as follows:

  • Nov. 10 _ Potomac State, Keyser, 1:30 p.m., Davis Conference Center
  • Nov. 16 _ WVU Tech, Montgomery, 1 p.m., Engineering Auditorium
  • Nov. 17 _ WVU Evansdale Campus, 9 a.m., Erickson Alumni Center, Salon A (Webcast)
  • Nov. 29 _ WVU Downtown Campus, 1 p.m., Mountainlair Rhododendron Room (Webcast)
  • Dec. 2 _ WVU Health Sciences Campus, noon, Okey Patteson Auditorium (Webcast; broadcast to Charleston/Eastern Division Campuses)
  • Dec. 2 – WVU Health Sciences Campus, 5:30 p.m., Okey Patteson Auditorium (Broadcast to Charleston/Eastern Division Campuses only)

Clark said comments are welcome on an existing goal or action item in the draft plan. Additional information, suggestions or initiatives that overlap or intersect with the plan’s goals or action items are also invited.

Feedback is also welcome online at: http://strategicplan.wvu.edu/feedback.
Employees who attend one of these forums during their regular work hours do not need to take annual leave; this will be considered work release time. Employees are reminded to get their supervisor’s approval before attending. The Morgantown forums may also be viewed via live webcast at: http://strategicplan.wvu.edu/

Following constituency feedback, Clark said the Council hopes to finalize the plan by the end of the calendar year.
