The snow has melted, the sun is out and West Virginia University is inviting parents to campus for a weekend of recreation and education with their students.

The Mountaineer Parents Club will hold their first-ever Spring Family Weekend April 16-18.

While in Morgantown, families can attend a baseball game and pre-game tailgate, visit the award-winning Student Recreation Center, participate in WVUp All Night and participate in a career mentoring seminar series.

“This weekend is a wonderful opportunity for parents to come back to campus and visit their students. Educational and fun activities have been planned for the whole family,” said Sabrina Cave, executive director of the Mountaineer Parents Club.

On Friday, April 16, families are invited to get the full WVU experience by spending all day in class with their student.

On Saturday, April 17, families are invited to participate in the City of Morgantown’s Chocolate Lover’s Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. downtown.

A pre-game tailgate for the WVU-Louisville baseball game will begin in the band practice lot adjacent to the Coliseum and Shell/Natatorium Complex at 1 p.m. on Saturday. From 6 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, students and their families can go for a swim, play some basketball, use the climbing wall or walk the track at the Student Recreation Center.

Families looking for some entertainment and free food are encouraged to participate in the nationally-acclaimed WVUp All Night program with their student from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Billiards and bowling will be offered at half-price.

On Sunday, the Mountaineer Parents Club will team with successful alumni, the WVU Alumni Association and Career Services staff to host the Life 101 Seminar Series. Topics covered include effective networking, professional attire and etiquette, evaluating the job offer and benefits package and graduate school.
