“Singing Day & Night…24 Hours in Song,” is the title of the WVU Choral Program’s fall concert to be held Sunday, Oct. 25, at 3:15 p.m. in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre of the Creative Arts Center.

The concert will feature the WVU Choral Union, University Choir, Women’s Choir, and the vocal group Same Difference, performing music by Claudio Monteverdi, Eric Whitacre, Robert Schumann, Thomas Morley, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, and others.

WVU Choral Director Kathleen Shannon will conduct along with students Jeffry Blake Johnson, Min Sue Kim, and Daryl Finley.

“The music for this concert was selected for its poetic and musical depictions of the various times of day – morning, daytime, afternoon, evening and night,” Shannon said.

“Selections will run the stylistic gamut from madrigals by Monteverdi and Morley, to a Korean folk song, to a concert spiritual, to a trio of songs from the Great American Songbook popularized by Frank Sinatra.”

Song titles include “A Foggy Day,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Night and Day,” “Great Day,” “On a Fair Morning,” “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning, “Water Night,” “Gute Nacht,” and many more.
