The Erickson Alumni Center has gotten a lot of attention from visitors to the Evansdale Campus. Now, the building is turning heads as part of the Design Pittsburgh 2009 award series.

IKM Architects of Pittsburgh, the architectural design firm, who created the overall design of the new alumni center, submitted the Erickson Alumni Center for consideration as part of the Design Pittsburgh 2009 program which showcases, celebrates, and honors architects and designers for their accomplishments. The alumni center is one of 47 entries being considered for in the architecture category for this prestigious award.

WVU alumni and friends also will have an opportunity to vote for the Erickson Alumni Center as part of the People’s Choice Award by visiting http://pittsburghsfavoritearchitecture.com/dp2009/architecture/ to cast their votes.

The awards will be presented during a special ceremony tomorrow (Oct. 22) at the August Wilson Center in Pittsburgh.

American Institute of Architects (AIA) member architecture firms from Pittsburgh and the Middle PA chapter, or any member of any AIA Chapter across the country, who has a project in the 22 county area represented by AIA Pittsburgh or AIA Middle Pennsylvania, submit projects to be judged in a variety of award categories, including architecture, green design and the People’s Choice Award which is chosen by popular vote.
