Rather than wasting time searching a variety of job search Web sites, West Virginia University seniors can now access multiple job listings in one location.

CareerShift is a web-based service that allows students to search regional and national job listings on thousands of job boards, newspapers and company Web sites.

“This is a great service that we urge every job-seeking WVU senior to utilize. It is designed to make the job search process more efficient and allows students to view job opportunities that they might not have heard about otherwise. Plus, it is free,” said David Durham, director of WVU’s Career Services Center.

The service allows students to store job listings they are interested in and upload targeted resumes and cover letters. Students can also obtain inside contact information for millions of companies and alumni.

The calendar and notebook features also allow students to record interviews and set reminders for follow-ups.

The center has purchased an institutional access CareerShift account for all seniors. On their own, students would pay a $25 monthly fee to utilize the service.

Students can access their confidential CareerShift profile on any computer at anytime.

To use the service, WVU seniors will need to call the Career Services Center at 304-293-2221 to obtain a personal ID code. Then simply go to http://westvirginia.careershift.com, click “sign up,” fill out the required information and enter the code provided.
