Loggins and Messina, the most successful duo of the 1970s, are reuniting for the first time since 2005 with a performance at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The show will kick off the 2009-10 University Arts Series season. Tickets are on sale now.

More than 35 years since first “Sittin’ In” together, Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina’s widely anticipated tour picks up where the 2005 “Sittin’ In Again” reunion tour left off. Loggins and Messina became a smash-hit with the release of “Sittin’ In,” which certified gold and remained on the charts for two years. The duo’s most enduring songs are so well crafted that they have stood the test of time, remaining timeless classics nearly three decades after their original release. The songs, including “Danny’s Song,” “House at Pooh Corner,” “Angry Eyes” and “Vahevala,” “spoke to a generation, not just to a radio station,” Loggins has said. Both men are looking forward to the 2009 tour, calling it a “great and meaningful opportunity” that is not only about a musical reunion but also about “reuniting a relationship that’s become more of a friendship than ever before.”

The two also had great success with their individual careers. Kenny Loggins established himself as a solo artist with a series of albums starting in the late 70s and continuing on to present day. Some of his most well-known work includes “Celebrate Me Home,” “Return to Pooh Corner” and multiple tracks on the “Footloose” movie soundtrack.

Jim Messina also recorded several successful solo albums, including “Oasis,” “One More Mile” and “Legacy.” He also founded and continues to run the Songwriters’ Performance Workshop, which aims to “empower amateurs.”
