Actor, comedian and Emmy-winning writer David Cross will bring his comedy act to the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 10. at 7:30 p.m.

While some may know Cross best as Tobias Fnke (pronounced fyoon-kay) from the critically acclaimed television series “Arrested Development”, he was also one-half of the Emmy-nominated HBO sketch comedy “Mr. Show with Bob and David.” The groundbreaking show, which he co-created along with Bob Odenkirk, ran for four successful seasons.

Cross also has several comedy albums, including “Shut Up You ? Baby!” and “It’s Not Funny”, that have garnered rave reviews and a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album (“Shut Up…”). He is also well-known in the film world, with movie roles including “Men in Black,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Year One,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “I’m Not There” and “Kung Fu Panda.”

Cross’ performance at WVU will be in support of his new book, “I Drink for a Reason,” which in his own words is a collection of “personal essays, satirical fiction posing as truth, advice for rich people, information from America’s least favorite Rabbi and a top-ten list of top-ten lists.” He recently appeared on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” to discuss this new book.
