Anytime Fitness opened its latest health club facility May 9 on the ground floor of University Park, West Virginia University’s new contemporary mixed-use residence hall and apartment complex on the Evansdale campus.

The development is a public-private partnership, which includes approximately 1,310 beds, food services and retail development that benefits both WVU students and the surrounding neighborhood. Retail includes IHOP, Friendly Nails, and soon-to-be opened Smoothie King.

The 5,080-square-foot facility is opening in time for the summer season.

“We expect this be a great alternative to some of the other options for those affiliated with WVU and in the Evansdale community,” owner Mark Ciamarra said. “We have seen a great amount of enthusiasm for providing a unique experience, centered around continuing and attaining health and fitness in a fun, non-judgmental environment.”

The club has the most advanced cardio and strength equipment, WellBeats classes on demand, tanning, HydroMassage, studio classes, personal and group training, all housed in a very inviting atmosphere.

Anytime Fitness has been ranked as the top fitness franchise by Entrepreneur magazine’s for five consecutive years, and is second franchise overall.

“As a graduate of WVU and the father of three Mountaineers, I am beyond excited that as a family we can offer such a positive service to the students and local community, and in the process create job opportunities,” Ciamarra said. “It is especially rewarding to be working with my two sons in the town that has brought us all so many great memories.”

The new Anytime Fitness is located within walking distance of WVU’s Health Sciences Campus, Ruby Memorial Hospital, Milan Puskar Stadium, WVU’s College of Law, and WVU’s main transportation hub, Mountaineer Station. The club is competitively priced to accommodate students and will accept Mountie Bountie.

The fitness center is open 24 hours every day and is available not only for WVU employees, faculty and students, but also to the Greater Morgantown community and visitors. Membership to the Morgantown club provides access to the more than 3500 Anytime Fitness clubs. The club will bring approximately 10 and 15 new jobs to the area and will also contribute to the city, county and state tax base.
