Tuesday, Nov. 17
OPEN HOUSE: Art Museum of WVU
The Art Museum of WVU invites the community to an open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17. Throughout the evening, three docents will give brief presentations focusing on four specific works of art in the current exhibition, “Visual Conversations: Looking and Listening.” The event is free and open to the public and will feature music by mandolinist Tristan Dennis, a member of the WVU Bluegrass Band.

FACULTY RECITAL: Andrea Priester Houde, Viola
Andrea Priester Houde, assistant professor of viola, will present a faculty recital at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Bloch Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center. Houde will be joined by faculty colleagues Nina Assimakopolous on flute, Ching-Wen Hsiao on piano, soprano Hope Koehler, and Kyle Linscheid on piano, for performances of music by J.S. Bach, John Corigliano, Johannes Brahms, and Paul Hindemith. The recital is free and open to the public.

CONCERT: WVU Wind Symphony
Themes of deliverance and liberation will get a symphonic spin in the upcoming concert of the WVU Wind Symphony at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre in the Creative Arts Center. For concert tickets and information, call the WVU Box Office at 304-293-SHOW. Admission is free to WVU students presenting a valid ID to any usher.

Thursday, Nov. 19
CONCERT: WVU Symphony Orchestra
The WVU Symphony Orchestra continues its 2015-16 season with a performance featuring one of the 20th century’s most electrifying works at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre. One of the evening’s highlights will be the ensemble’s performance of music from Igor Stravinsky’s ballet, “The Firebird.” For concert tickets and information, call the WVU Box Office at 304-293-SHOW. Admission is free to WVU students presenting a valid ID to any usher.

Thursday, Nov. 19, and Friday, Nov. 20
PLAY: The Beaux’ Stratagem
Join a cast of lovers, adventurers and villains in their world of fast-paced comedy, disguise, subterfuge, and the power of true love when the WVU School of Theatre & Dance presents the classic comedy with contemporary flair-, “The Beaux’ Stratagem,” by George Farquhar, in an adaptation by Thornton Wilder and Ken Ludwig. Performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20, in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre at the Creative Arts Center, with additional performances at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1-5 and 2 p.m. Dec. 6. LAURA MESAROS GALLERY: John Pe�a, Printmaker, Monday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Pe�a is a visual artist, illustrator and educator who makes art as a way of exploring the natural world and his daily interactions. He has attended a number of residencies including Skowhegan, Bemis & The Fine Arts Work Center. He was also the recipient of the 2012 Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award as an Emerging Artist and recently created an artwork for the Mattress Factory Museum in Pittsburgh.

PAUL MESAROS GALLERY: Jen Mussari, Graphic Designer, Monday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Jen Mussari is a designer, lettering artist, and illustrator, who now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Some of the clients she has collaborated with include Squarespace, Airbnb, Kickstarter, Shopify, Patagonia, the Art Director’s Club, EMI, Capitol Records, Target, West Elm, Penguin Books, Adobe, LOGAN, Pentagram, 72andSunny, CreativeMornings, and Smilebooth.
