University Avenue will open back up to traffic Friday (Nov. 6) at 6 a.m. for the first time since July, according to a news release from the City of Morgantown.

The area is still under construction, however, and sidewalks will remain closed until the projects is completed next week. Third Street and Beverly Avenue are also still closed to traffic. The base course of paving has been laid on University Avenue, and temporary line markings are in place to allow vehicles to travel along the road.

The City warns drivers that the road texture will be rough until the final coat of pavement is placed next week, which will take place after crews finish up the sidewalks. Once that process is complete, turning lanes and other final lane markings will be painted to complete project.
