West Virginia University Career Services Center is gearing up for the new football season by hosting their third annual Career Kick-Off Tailgate set for Friday (Sept. 4) from noon to 3:00 p.m. on the Mountainlair Plaza.

The day before the Mountaineers home-opening football game against the Georgia Southern Eagles, Career Services is encouraging all students to come out and network with some of the best recruiters in the area while enjoying free food, frozen drinks (courtesy of Sheetz), traditional tailgate games, prizes and giveaways, including four new flat screen TVs, and more.

Recruiters from CVS Health, Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, Sherwin-Williams, Mylan, Snowshoe, Collabera, Lots Mozza, U.S. Army, and more will be on hand to discuss future careers opportunities with students.

“Hundreds of companies will recruit on campus before the end of September,” said Sarah Glenn, assistant director of the Career Services Center. “This means students need to start their job search as soon as they return from summer break. The ‘Tailgate’ helps our students jumpstart their job search in an informal, relaxed setting.”

Members from the Mountaineer Maniacs and University Apartments will also be on hand to discuss membership and housing options, respectively.

“Networking with employers and interviewing for jobs can be a bit intimidating,” said Mary Claire Whisler, recruitment specialist with Sherwin-Williams. “This type of event is a great way for students to get valuable face time with companies in a relaxed environment. We hope students will swing by, play some Kan Jam, and talk to potential future employers.”

The event is free to all enrolled WVU students and no RSVP is required. The first 1,500 students to arrive will receive a free t-shirt.
