Students and families arriving at West Virginia University on move-in day last Friday (Aug. 14) got a surprise welcome from the big man on campus.

In the first Gee Mail of the fall 2015 semester, President Gordon Gee — with a megaphone he dubbed his “Meh-Gee Phone”— hit the pavement to surprise students and their loved ones unloading and unpacking at Braxton and Lincoln Halls.

“This is such a wonderful day seeing the joy in the parents’ eyes as they see their students coming here,” Gee said. “And even seeing a little bit of fright in some of those eyes. But we’re going to love them and make sure they have the most fabulous experience. When they walk into this University, they come to a great place. When they leave this institution, they leave with a great education and a world view that is going to change the world.”
