WVU School of Theatre and Dance alumna Jennifer Wiley Stockton, an entertainment manager and producer, along with Maria Hubbard, a casting coordinator for FOX Entertainment, will present a special casting workshop for BFA and MFA Acting students at the Creative Arts Center, May 3-4.

For many soon-to-be graduates of the School of Theatre and Dance, diving into the ever-changing world of film and television can seem very daunting at the onset. The industry has a set of rules that can turn on a dime.

Stockton, a former student of Professor Jerry McGonigle, last visited the School of Theatre and Dance with her client, actor Sterling K. Brown in 2012, and presented a workshop on auditioning for the camera. For this workshop Stockton and Hubbard will be delving a bit deeper into the business of acting. The workshop will focus on casting directors, agents and managers, and helping students devise a game plan for reaching their goals.

Stockton is the owner of JWS Entertainment, a bi-coastal actor’s management company. Drawing from almost 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, she manages the careers of actors whose base of operations are in New York City and/or Los Angeles in the mediums of film, television and theater. She has fostered the careers of various Oscar, Tony and Emmy Award nominated actors. She is currently serving as associate producer for the documentary film “Thao’s Library,” which will have its premiere this month at the Bentonville Film Festival.

Maria Hubbard has been a casting coordinator for FOX since 2011. Recent projects include “Empire,” “The Last Man on Earth,” and “Brooklyn 99.” She was formerly casting associate at Tucker/Meyerson, where she worked on such projects as “Rescue Me,” “Damages,” “Fringe” and “Nurse Jackie.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to have these professionals join us,” McGonigle said. “These are two highly successful members of the casting and acting industry who have generously donated their time to come work with our exiting senior and graduate student actors, as they transition into the profession.”
