Spring auditions for the new BFA program in Musical Theatre in the College of Creative Arts will be held April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in Rm. 210 at E. Moore Hall, located on the Downtown Campus.

The new major emphasizes training in acting, music and dance, and is offered jointly by the Schools of Music and Theatre and Dance. The administration of the program is through the School of Theatre and Dance.
The director of the program is Bryce Britton, who joined the School of Theatre and Dance faculty last fall.

“Our BFA in Musical Theatre program’s primary focus is to create professional collaborative performers who not only have the ability to shine on any stage, but the knowledge to get in the stage door in this highly competitive entertainment industry,” Britton said.

Prospective students should prepare two contrasting songs that display both acting and vocal range. One of the selections should be up-tempo and contemporary, while the other should be a ballad or character-driven choice song.

Students are also asked to prepare a contemporary monologue for a total audition package that is between four and five minutes.

Students who wish to audition should contact Professor Bryce Britton at bpbritton@mail.wvu.edu or 304-293-6981.
