West Virginia University alumni and friends traveling to Cleveland to watch the WVU men’s basketball team’s Sweet 16 game against Kentucky on Thursday (March 26) are invited to attend a Mountaineer meet and greet.

The event starts at 6 p.m. at Zcalo Mexican Grill & Tequileria and is hosted by the North Coast Cleveland Alumni Chapter, the WVU Alumni Association and Mountaineer Athletic Club. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature food and drink specials and Mountaineer camaraderie.

“We are so proud of the men’s team for the exciting season we’ve had. We know we will have a wonderful contingency of alumni and friends who will be traveling to Cleveland for the game to cheer on the Mountaineers,” said Steve Douglas, president and CEO of the WVU Alumni Association. “We look forward to seeing our alumni and fans as we paint Cleveland gold and blue.”

Hundreds of WVU alumni, friends and fans are expected to be on hand for the Sweet 16 game versus Kentucky, which is scheduled to tip off at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Thursday. Should the Mountaineers advance the next round, a similar meet and greet is planned three hours prior to tipoff on Saturday (March 28).

For those alumni and fans not traveling to Cleveland, chapters are hosting game watches around the country. Visit cal.wvu.edu to find the nearest location.
