Ethnomusicologist Lee Bidgood, of East Tennessee State University, will present the screening of a documentary that explores the rich world of Czech bluegrass music at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center, Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The event will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A) and is free and open to the public.

“Banjo Romantika” was co-produced by Bidgood, who is assistant professor in the Bluegrass, Old-Time and Country Program at ETSU.

Bidgood has been conducting ethnographic research on the Czech bluegrass scene for more than a decade, and brings his insight as an ethnographer and bluegrass musician to the project. In addition to his work as an ethnomusicologist, Bidgood is an avid mandolinist, a fiddler and a former member of the Steep Canyon Rangers.

“Banjo Romantika” was directed by Shara K. Lange. The documentary features music by Druh�, Tr�va, The Greenhorns, Roll’s Boys and Reli�f.
