The West Virginia University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America is hosting a well-known professional in public relations to speak to students about the industry and career opportunities. Vice chairman of DJE Holdings and president and chief executive order of global practices Alan VanderMolen will lecture in Room 205 of Martin Hall on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.

All students are welcome and encouraged to attend VanderMolen’s presentation. Students will receive a first-hand account of public relations agency work in today’s business atmosphere. VanderMolen will share his experiences with public relations firm Edelman, discussing its size, influence, clients, location, impact and variety of work.

A Q&A session will follow VanderMolen’s presentation, giving students the opportunity to ask more personalized, career-oriented questions. VanderMolen will discuss influential public relations agencies, what to expect from new employees and qualities that employers are looking for in their newest hires.

VanderMolen is in charge of several companies for DJE Holdings, which includes sports, entertainment and experiential marketing firm “MATTER,” and the globalization of the sister agency, Zeno. He also works with clients from SAP and Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in political science.

VanderMolen is the former president of Edelman where he quadrupled the firm’s business, brought market entry into Japan, India and Indonesia and managed the firm’s communications.
