As part of a commitment to foster diversity, West Virginia University is hosting its 13th minority doctorate colloquium where prospective students can receive guidance on the next step in their lives.

The colloquium, held Oct. 10-12 on campus, allows prospective minority doctoral candidates a chance to meet Provost Michele Wheatly, Chief Diversity Officer David M. Fryson, and several faculty and academic staff.

Participants at this year’s event have received undergraduate degrees from institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, the University of Kentucky, Boston University and the University of the District of Columbia, among others.

The prospective students will hear from current graduate students at WVU, discuss funding opportunities, learn graduate school strategies for success, and discuss creating community on campus.

The colloquium is sponsored by the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Office of Graduate Education & Life and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
