West Virginia University is asking all students, faculty, staff, alumni and other WVU fans to show support for their school by wearing gold and blue on Friday (Aug. 30).
WVU is one of many universities around the country taking part in national College Colors Day, an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that make the college experience memorable.
As part of College Colors Day, WVU is also in the running to be named Spirit Cup champion. Vote for the Mountaineers on Facebook by clicking here. The winning school will receive a $10,000 donation for their general scholarship fund.
To show the utmost support to WVU athletics, attend the Mountaineer men’s and women’s soccer teams’ games on Friday as part of a double-header at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The women’s team takes on Central Michigan at 5 p.m. and the men’s team plays Central Connecticut State at 7:30 p.m.
WVU has teamed up with Nike to produce an official 2013 WVU Fan Shirt. The shirt features the words “mountain strong” on the front with the Mountaineer Mascot and “Flying WV” logo on the back. Fans can buy the shirt online at http://shopwvu.com or from the WVU Bookstore, the Book Exchange and other Nike retailers. Fans are encouraged to wear the official shirt to support all WVU sports teams.
In addition, WVU is asking all students, faculty, staff, alumni and other fans to wear gold and blue each Friday as part of the third year of Mountaineer Fridays.
