The annual celebration of West Virginia’s most highly successful individuals has been announced, as the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics is accepting nominations for induction into the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame through August 15.

The West Virginia Business Hall of Fame was initiated in 2001, and has since inducted 54 individuals.

“The West Virginia Business Hall of Fame is a great way to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to community,” said “Dr. Jose “Zito Sartarelli, Milan Puskar dean, WVU College of Business and Economics. “The Hall of Fame celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions in many ways to our state, and they remind us of the tremendous opportunity for economic success in West Virginia.”

Last year’s inductees included J. Brett Harvey, chairman and CEO, CONSOL Energy Inc.; J. Thomas Jones, president/CEO, West Virginia United Health System; and Julie M. Smith, co-founder, the Continuous Learning Group, Inc.

“Members of the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame have strong ties to the state and have made a significant impact on the landscape of business,” Sartarelli said. “It is a strong tradition.”

Nominees must illustrate extraordinary leadership, have demonstrated a commitment to their community, and have a strong West Virginia tie as explained in the criteria. Having earned a college degree is not a requirement for this honor.
