Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles will perform at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center Friday, August 23. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and will feature music from the critically acclaimed new album “The Blessed Unrest.” Tickets will go on sale Monday, July 1 at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, or by calling 304-293-SHOW and 800-745-3000.

Sara Bareilles was catapulted onto the worldwide music scene in 2007 with her wildly successful hit “Love Song,” which reached No. 1 in 22 counties. The single, which would earn her a Grammy nomination for “Song of the Year” and “Best Female Vocal Performance,” came from her equally successful debut album “Little Voice.” Not content with her early success, Bareilles returned with “Kaleidoscope Heart” in 2010. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and gained critical praise everywhere including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, People and Los Angeles Times. The album yielded the release of the hit single “King of Anything,” which earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” and was certified platinum by the RIAA.

After joining the NBC reality series “The Sing-Off” and releasing a documentary about her efforts to help a Tsunami-ravaged town in Japan, Bareilles released her EP “Once Upon Another Time,” produced by Ben Folds.

With an effortless sound that evokes the likes of Norah Jones and coupled with her impressive piano skills, Bareilles’ concert in the intimacy of the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre promises to be an incredible evening of live music.
