Following a thorough review by the state Attorney General’s Office that found “significant errors” in the procurement process, but “no intentional wrong doing,” West Virginia University announced April 15 it will cancel its previous solicitation for a multimedia rights and sponsorship contract. The request for proposals will be reissued in the near future.

“I want to thank Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and his staff for a detailed review and a clear set of recommendations,” said WVU President Jim Clements. “It is clear from this report that mistakes were made in the procurement process, and we will take proactive steps to fix them. Starting over is simply the right thing to do.”

Clements said Wednesday (April 17) that WVU Procurement will announce a new, reconstituted committee in the near future (for a multimedia rights and sponsorship RFP); none of the six members will be reappointed. “As I’ve said, the goal is to get this process right; we will take the time we need to address the deficiencies noted in the Attorney General’s report,” he said.
