Scenes from famous operas by Mozart, Beethoven, Gilbert & Sullivan, and other famous composers will be presented by West Virginia University Opera Theatre during a program titled “Arias, Duets & Trios,” at the Creative Arts Center, April 17-20.

Directed by Robert Thieme, who is head of WVU opera program, performances in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre begin at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, April 17-19, and 3:15 p.m., Saturday, April 20.

The students will perform scenes from: “La Serva Padrona” by Giovanni Pergolesi; “The Marriage of Figaro” by Wolfgang Mozart; “Fidelio” by Ludwig van Beethoven; “The Mikado” by Gilbert & Sullivan, “Vanessa” by Samuel Barber; “The Old Maid and the Thief” by Gian Carlo Menotti; “The Elixir of Love” by Gaetano Donizetti, “The Dialogues of the Carmelites” by Francis Poulenc, and “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by Otto Nicolai.

Students performing include Leigh Usilton, Winston Sullivan, Alex Anderson, Terri Parlett, John Scherch, Mikaela Sullivan, Stephen Michael Patrick, Dallas Wright, Konrad Geiser, Davan Balaguer, Samantha DeStefano, Aaron Scarberry, Kathryn Shepas, Nicoletta Ciampa, Elizabeth McCormick, Brandon Foster, Callie Merz, Sarah Perconte, Katti Grosso, Sharon Lankford and Jennifer Berkebile.
