The WELLWVU Office of Wellness and Health Promotion will launch its moveWELL campaign on April 1 to motivate West Virginia University students to reach the Center for Disease Control’s recommended goal of 150 minutes of cardiovascular exercise per week.

moveWELL is a part of WELLWVU’s liveWELL campaign. Each month, liveWELL pairs a social marketing campaign with educational activities to address healthy lifestyle behaviors.

moveWELL tracks and posts workouts appropriate for various fitness levels. Students can reflect on their participation and favorite ways to stay active. Programs will be offered in all WVU residence halls and in the Mountainlair on moveWELLDays.

To participate in moveWELL, students are encouraged to follow WELLWVU on Twitter and like its Facebook Page. A full description of moveWELL programs, activities, and resources to help you get moving is available on well.wvu.edu/movewell.

“moveWELL’s tagline is ‘my choice, ourevolution’ and encourages students to keep moving at least 30 minutes a day,” said Colleen Harshbarger, director of WELLWVU Office of Wellness and Promotion. “We hope to empower students to recognize that their choices impact not only themselves but also their community.”

WELLWVU is also partnering with WVU alumna and Miss Morgantown Ashley McLaughlin to promote the Children’s Miracle Network Color 5K Run/Walk on May 11. To register or learn more about the race, stop by the Color 5K booth located in the Mountainlair on Thursday (April 4) from noon to 3 p.m. or visit http://theracedeal.com.
