West Virginia University Assistant Professor Andrea Weber is a firm believer in the University and its ability to help others. Weber says she is a strong supporter of the WVU Foundation’s Campus Campaign because she’s able to see its results on a daily basis.

WVU faculty and staff will have the same opportunity to invest in their University through Gold Blue and You, the Foundation’s annual private fundraising campaign for faculty and staff that runs now through early May.

“We have a scholarship within the department that I am now giving toward to help students,” said Weber, who teaches in the Department of Communication Studies. “In some cases, these are students who wouldn’t be able to continue their education at West Virginia University without this support.”

During the last Campus Campaign, more than 1,600 faculty and staff donated. Their gifts totaled nearly $1.5 million.

This year, those who donate to the Gold Blue and You campaign also will be supporting A State of Minds: The Campaign for West Virginia’s University, the comprehensive fundraising effort that began in July 2007 and will conclude on Dec. 31, 2015.

Contributors can designate their gift to any department or unit within the University. Each gift, in its entirety, goes directly to the fund designated by the donor without any money being deducted for operational costs.

Donations can be made through payroll deduction, credit card or check. Gifts may also be made online at www.goldblueandyou.com. All employees will be receiving materials in March about the campaign and further information on how to contribute.

“By creating Gold Blue and You, we want to thank faculty and staff for their efforts on behalf of WVU and encourage them to invest in the future,” said WVU Foundation Senior Vice President of Development Lyn Dotson. “Giving back to WVU shows that you support the University and want it to succeed in the years to come.”

Terry Nebel, an assistant director in the WVU Office of Information Technology, shared similar sentiments in supporting the campaign.

“I believe in leading by example and it’s up to me to do my part,” said Nebel. “Much like history starts with one person at a time, what we do, one at a time, collectively can be more important. If we all participate in this campaign, it allows the institution to best take care of itself and at the same time best take care of us.”

Honorary chairman of this year’s Gold Blue and You campus campaign is WVU men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins, who has been a big supporter of the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and WVU athletics.
