West Virginia University music faculty, along with guest artist Lee Weisert of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will present a New Music Concert at the Creative Arts Center, Saturday, Oct. 13.

The event begins at 8:15 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (200A) and is free and open to the public.

Hosted by David Taddie, professor of music theory and composition and director of the Electronic Music Studio at WVU, this concert will include music by Kenji Buch, Margaret Fairlie-Kennedy, David Lang, Shulamit Ran, Lee Weisert and WVU music professor George Willis.

Weisert is a composer of instrumental and electronic music. His recent work draws inspiration from a wide variety of scientific disciplines and reinterprets their respective principles into an artistic context. His current work is with interactive sound installations.

His instrumental music has been played by nationally recognized performers and ensembles. Weisert has degrees in music composition from the University of Colorado, California Institute of the Arts, and Northwestern University.
