Alumni and friends of West Virginia University from Morgantown and the western Pennsylvania region are invited to join the College of Creative Arts for “WVU Night at the Pittsburgh Symphony,” Friday, Oct. 12, at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh.

There will be a pre-concert reception for WVU at 6:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Porter Simmons Regency Rooms (lower level) of Heinz Hall, followed by the concert at 8 p.m.

Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley makes his Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra concerto debut with Beethoven’s breathtaking “Violin Concerto.” Then, Manfred Honeck presents his dramatic and unique version of Mozart’s “Requiem.”

F. Murray Abraham recites this monumental work, with readings from Mozart’s letters to his father. The letters, as well as poems, scripture, church bells, Gregorian chant, and haunting text of the Requiem, create the memorial service for Mozart that should have been.

For ticket information and more about the performance at Heinz Hall, see the website: http://pso.culturaldistrict.org/production/31979/honeck-presents-mozart-s-requiem.
