The excitement surrounding the 2012 West Virginia University football season can be felt throughout the Mountaineer nation. The WVU Alumni Association’s University Chapter in Morgantown is ready to kick off the start of a new season and a new conference with its annual Countdown to Kickoff. The event will be held Sunday, Aug. 26, from 5-8 p.m. at The Erickson Alumni Center, and will feature WVU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Oliver Luck as the guest speaker.

“We are really excited about the upcoming football season, and we’re especially pleased to have Oliver Luck joining us for this signature event,” said Casey Quinlan, president of the University Chapter. “The Countdown to Kickoff is a fun family event and a great way for us to celebrate the Mountaineers. We hope that everyone will come out and join us for this great event.”

Quinlan noted that the event is open to the public and will feature food, prizes, games and more.

The cost of the event is $15/person (advanced registration/purchase) or $10 for students (Ages 6-17; children under the age of 5 are free). A limited number of walk-in tickets will be available the evening of the event at a cost of $25 per person. To register for the event or to get more information, contact the University Chapter at universitychapter@gmail.com or contact the WVU Alumni Association at 304.293.4731.
