Years before Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance? turned ballroom dancing into must-see TV, one sizzling show was setting stages ablaze around the globe: Burn The Floor. The national tour comes to the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center May 2. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, or by calling 304-293-SHOW and 800-745-3000.

Burn The Floor provides all of the passion and drama of a true theatrical experience. The New York Times calls this performance “dazzling!” From Harlem’s hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha Cha, Rumba and Salsa steamed up the stage, Burn the Floor takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance.

The show that reinvents ballroom dancing brings the talents of 22 award-winning international dancers from around the globe—England, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Slovenia, Venezuela, Uruguay, Philippines and the U.S—and includes Australian Ballroom and World Latin American champions. The dancers, who collectively hold more than 100 dance titles, move to the vision of artistic director and choreographer Jason Gilkison, former World Champion Latin and Ballroom dancer, and guest choreographer and judge on So You Think You Can Dance?

Tickets—$43 to $54 depending on seat location—are on sale now at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 304-293-SHOW and 800-745-3000. WVU student tickets are $27 with a valid WVU ID at the campus box offices and at 304-293-SHOW (one discounted ticket per I.D.).
