The U.S. Army Field Band Saxophone Quartet, featuring West Virginia University music alumnus and Morgantown native Daniel Goff, will visit the WVU Creative Arts Center, Wednesday, April 11, to present a master class and concert.

The master class begins at 5 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (200A) and will be followed by the concert at 6 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

The quartet performs a wide range of repertoire, including transcriptions, standard saxophone quartet literature, jazz and popular arrangements, and contemporary and avant-garde music.

Staff Sergeant Goff, baritone saxophone, served for six years in the 249th Army Band, West Virginia Army National Guard, prior to joining the U.S. Army Field Band. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the WVU School of Music and is currently completing a master’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Other members of the quartet include: Staff Sergeant Christopher Blossom, soprano saxophone, who holds a bachelor of music degree from Bowling Green State University and a master’s from the University of Michigan; Sergeant First Class Brian Sacawa, alto saxophone, who holds degrees from the University of Michigan, Peabody Conservatory of Music, and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and Staff Sergeant David parks, tenor saxophone, who holds a bachelor of music from Whitworth College and a master’s from the University of Southern Mississippi.
