West Virginia University’s WELLWVU is offering students a chance to get vaccinated for the flu.

At a cost of $15 while supplies last, students can be vaccinated by going to the Student Rec Center on Wednesday (Oct. 26) from 4-7 p.m. Students are asked to reserve a time by logging on to http://well.wvu.edu/medical/flu_shot and choosing one of the options. Once a new window pops up, click the button labeled “register,” complete and register the form.

Influenza, or the seasonal flu, is a viral infection that affects the respiratory tract every winter. The best way to prevent this illness is by getting a flu vaccination each fall. Each year, on average, 5 to 20 percent of the population gets the flu and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized due to the infection.

For more information, call the WELLWVU nurses station at 304-293-6974.
