Robert S. Bragg has been named director of development at West Virginia University’s College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Bragg, who had served previously in this position for nearly eight years, will rejoin the College officially on Oct. 16.

Bragg brings more than 18 years of progressive experience in fund raising, annual giving and public relations to the position. During his first tenure with the College, he successfully completed a five-year, $22 million capital campaign. He left the College in 2010 to serve as chief development officer of the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, a non-profit medical research institute headquartered in Morgantown.

“This is a special time for the College as we approach the 125th anniversary of our founding,” said Bragg. “During the next couple of years, we will be celebrating the many great accomplishments of our alumni, faculty and students. So, it is a thrill for me to return at this time and be part of this experience.”

“We are delighted to have Bob rejoin our development team,” said Gene Cilento, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the College. “His experience and knowledge of the College will allow him to hit the ground running as we launch into several very important fund raising initiatives vital to the sustained growth of the College over the next decade.”

Bragg is a 1980 graduate of Virginia Tech. He went onto earn an MBA with a concentration in finance and a master’s degree in government from the College of William and Mary in 1983 and 1987, respectively. He previously held development positions at Virginia Tech, University of Georgia and Florida State University.
