The start of the 2011 football season is here, and West Virginia University alumni and friends will be donning their gold and blue to cheer for the Mountaineers. Fans are invited to pre-game celebrations hosted by the WVU Alumni Association for all home and away football games.
The tradition of ””Game Day for all home game events at The Erickson Alumni Center’s Mountaineer Courtyard. The pre-game events feature unique menus, entertainment and great fun. Additionally, soda, beer and a limited cash bar will be available for purchase.
Popular musician Jackson Monsour will kick off the musical entertainment for the opener against Marshall University, as well as the last home game against the University of Pittsburgh; The Double Dragons will bring some ‘80s songs to the Courtyard for Norfolk State University; and The New Relics will perform for the University of Louisville and Bowling Green State University games. A special performance by the Zydeco Dots is on tap to celebrate Louisiana State University’s visit to Morgantown.
“Football is truly in the air, and we are excited about welcoming alumni and friends to The Erickson Alumni Center for another great year of ‘Game Day,’” said Steve Douglas, president and CEO, WVU Alumni Association. “There is no better place to be than with the Mountaineer faithful on a game day in Morgantown. We look forward to seeing everyone.”
In addition to the home game celebrations, fans can also check out away game activities. Alumni events will take place at all away games, offering alumni and friends special venues where they can gather with fellow Mountaineers.
Tickets for home events are $20/person (advanced registration). A limited number of walk-ins will be available for purchase at a cost of $25 per ticket. Fans are encouraged to make their reservations now to ensure admittance to the events. Tickets can also be purchased by contacting the Alumni Association.
The Alumni Association is also offering special parking passes for home football games. Season passes are available for purchase at The Erickson Alumni Center at a cost of $550. The cost of the pass also includes two season passes to the Game Day pre-game event. All Game Day celebrations begin two-and-a-half hours prior to kickoff.
