West Virginia University is encouraging students to try something new at the University’s third annual Try-It event.

On Saturday (Sept. 3) from noon to 5 p.m., WELLWVU, the Student’s Center of Health, will be showcasing the wide array of fun, outdoor activities that the state and University have to offer.

Students will have the chance to try to kayak, bike, canoe, play corn hall while wearing “drunk goggles” and many other fun activities all free of charge. Also, WVU’s Dining Services will be providing healthy foods for students to try and tips on how to stay healthy in the cafeteria.

“The mission of WELLWVU is to foster the complete well being of our students through health care education, promotion and related services. West Virginia uniquely offers students miles of rail trails for biking and walking and scenic rivers for canoeing and kayaking,” said Colleen Harshbarger, director of wellness and health promotion for WELLWVU.

The event will be held at the Hazel Ruby-McQuain Riverfront Park, which has easy access to the Morgantown Rail Trail for students. You can learn more about the Try-It event by visiting: http://well.wvu.edu.

“Many students don’t know that they can rent a kayak or bike at the Student Rec Center anytime they’d like, or that they have access to healthy foods in the dining hall. This event encourages students to take advantage of the programs and services that support their well-being,” Harshbarger said.
