Spectacular dance/illusionist company Momix bringing "Botanica" to WVU's CAC Sept. 15
Known internationally for presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, Momix is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of famed choreographer Moses Pendleton. This spectacular blend of theater, circus and athleticism will bring its nature-inspired performance, “Botanica,” to the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, ticketmaster.com and 304-293-SHOW.
For the past 20 years, Momix has been celebrated for its ability to conjure up a world of surrealistic images using props, light shadow, humor and the human body. “They are inspired vaudevillians, creating slapstick, science fiction and improvisational surprise,” raves the “Chicago Tribune.” “Their audience floats out on a dizzying high of pleasure.” This incredible company has thrilled fans in over 22 countries and has been featured on stage, screen and television.
In this highly anticipated appearance, Momix will bring its revolutionary vision to the Creative Arts Center in “Botanica.” This performance is a window into nature’s ever-changing imagery amid an eclectic and riveting score that ranges from birdsong to Vivaldi. Using large-scale puppets, projected imagery and larger-than-life props designed by Michael Curry (The Lion King), Momix evokes a vivid landscape populated by a whimsical, fertile and mythical imagination. Pendleton—one of America’s most innovative and widely performed choreographers and artistic directors—has created an entertaining multimedia experience that is not to be missed.
