Anxiety. Uncertainty. Fear.

About 5,600 freshmen and transfer students just left behind familiar settings. They bid farewell to their families, friends and homes.

But in a Mountaineer minute, all unsettling feelings vanished.

Excitement. Hope. Pride.

After saying “goodbye,” new students said “hello” to their new home – West Virginia University – where some 29,500 students altogether were welcomed into the Fall 2011 semester.

Here, they’d meet new family and new friends as they moved into their residence halls, gathered at a University Welcome and mingled at a free concert. And they went to their first college classes.

They were made into Mountaineers, and their memories had just begun.
