The West Virginia University College of Business and Economics will welcome new members to the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame in a November ceremony held in conjunction with the College’s 60th Anniversary celebration.

The West Virginia Business Hall of Fame event, hosted by B&E, has recognized more than 40 businesspeople who have established a record of distinction in their fields and who have a clear West Virginia connection. Inductees have excelled in national and international business, state-based enterprises and entrepreneurial and family businesses. Each has been a role model for business students and the business world alike.

The College is currently seeking nominations for this year’s induction. Selection criteria and nomination forms are available online at http://www.be.wvu.edu/hall_fame/ or by telephone request at (304) 293-8888.

“The West Virginia Business Hall of Fame has grown in stature over the years in great part due to the recognition it bestows on West Virginians who have made a difference in the lives of the people of our great state,” said Dr. Jose V. Sartarelli, Milan Puskar Dean, WVU College of Business and Economics. “The Hall of Fame is a fantastic way to honor the achievement and impact of these individuals, and to provide a setting through which they are urged to continue on their honorable mission.”

“The Hall of Fame was initiated by the College as a collaborative effort with then-President David Hardesty to honor businesspeople with West Virginia connections,” Sartarelli added. “The decision was made when this event was initiated that it was not a WVU event, but, rather, honored businesspeople with West Virginia connections, regardless of their educational affiliations. That tradition continues to this day.”

The 2010 inductees into the Hall of Fame included Greg Babe, Bayer Corporation; Tom DeWitt, Swanson Industries; Addison Fischer, Fischer International System Corporation; Don Hoylman, DonMar Enterprises; and Robert Reynolds, Putnam Investments.

As part of B&E’s 60th Anniversary celebration, Dean Sartarelli will invite all past Hall of Fame inductees to a private luncheon prior to this year’s induction event on Nov. 3 at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown.
