Chase Vasale and Evan Vance received silver medals in the 2011 AAU National Tae Kwon Do championships held recently in Austin, Texas. Both are members of the West Virginia Tae Kwon Do team, part of West Virginia University’s Lifetime Activities Program. Tae Kwon Do is an Olympic sport and is one of the most practiced martial arts in the world.

Eight members of the team qualified for national competition. The team prepared for the tournament with Toney Artice, sixth degree black belt and main instructor at WVU, along with another instructor, eighth degree black belt, Duk Kyung Choi.

In separate competition, numerous Lifetime Activities Program students were presented with black belt certificates at a tae kwon do test held recently at WVU.
