Professionals interested in incorporating digital and social media strategies into their integrated marketing efforts will have an opportunity to learn best practices and to network with leaders in the industry at a conference hosted by West Virginia University this summer.

The WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism’s Integrated Marketing Communications master’s degree program will hold its inaugural INTEGRATE 2011 conference June 3-4 at WVU’s main campus in Morgantown.

The conference provides an opportunity for professionals and prospective students to explore cutting-edge strategies and utilize new technology to build audience around a brand or organization. It features IMC experts, including WVU faculty members, from across the country.

Attendees will participate in one of two interactive workshops on either Leveraging the Power of Social Media in IMC or Building Brands with IMC. They will also have the opportunity to attend a professional networking reception on Friday evening.

Throughout the day on Saturday, June 4, participants can choose among 20 different breakout sessions led by industry experts on the hottest topics in marketing communications, including social media, branding, PR and crisis communications, and much more. Sessions include Current Trends in Mobile Marketing, Use of Social Media in Marketing Research and Google Analytics 101.

“As an industry professional and IMC program faculty member,” said Patti Girardi, IMC faculty member and INTEGRATE workshop presenter, “I always want to be challenged and to challenge others to examine our current media landscape and find ways to make it better – and that’s exactly what the INTEGRATE conference will give us the chance to do. The conference is set up to be truly interactive and will be a dynamic resource for anyone looking for innovative marketing tools and strategies.”

Gerard Corbett, nationally recognized public relations professional and founder and CEO of Redphlag LLC, will deliver the keynote address at a dinner on June 4 at WVU’s Milan Puskar Stadium.

Corbett is an experienced and versatile branding, marketing, public relations and communications executive and coach, having served four decades in senior marketing and communications roles at global Fortune 100 firms, as well as in aerospace engineering and information technology with Silicon Valley firms and National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He also served for 12 years as America’s vice president and general manager of the Branding and Corporate Communications Group of Hitachi, one of the world’s leading electronics companies.

The IMC program has hosted an annual IMC weekend for the past six years, but this year is the first time that the program will host a professional conference.
