West Virginia University will show a film on the blues in Mississippi as part of the Brown Bag Lunch Film and Discussion Series.

“The Last of the Mississippi Jukes,” a documentary about the history of “juke joints” in Mississippi where many bluesman first “made their bones,” will be shown on Thursday, Feb. 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Gluck Theater of the Mountainlair.

Kiva Makhete, a doctoral candidate in the History Department and instructor in the African Studies Program, will present the film.

The event, sponsored by the WVU Office of Multicultural Programs in the Office of Student Life, is free and open to the public. Pizza will be served on a first come, first served basis.
